Bailey Bear Boogie – October

Bailey Station Elementary PTA produces the Bailey Bear Boogie each year, raising more than $42,000 in 2019 to help support some amazing learning opportunities for our students. The BBB is a one-day walk/run-a-thon event with prizes based on pledges, school spirit and participation.

The Boogie has become an annual event that encourages healthy living and active lifestyles while raising funds for our Parent Teacher Association. Those funds are then used to provide learning materials and instructional resources for teachers and students throughout the year. Parent volunteers and teachers work together to make the event both fun and safe. Principal

Cindy Tesreau said, “The kids love this event and look forward to it every year.”

Reflections, Safety Poster and Citizenship Essay Contests – October

Every year the Tennessee PTA sponsors a themed Safety Poster Contest. These must be original works of art based on the chosen safety theme and are submitted for judging.

Red Ribbon Week – October

Book Fair – November

In November, BSE PTA hosts a Book Fair in partnership with Scholastic. Our students have always been encouraged to read 20-minutes a day and this is a wonderful opportunity to help build their personal libraries. Proceeds from the Book Fair benefit BSE’s library. Additionally, we will hold a Popup Book Fair in the Spring and another at Barnes & Noble if the year permits.

Valentine Grams – February

New in 2017, BSE PTA began selling $1 Valentine Grams as a Spring Fundraiser. These little notes are fun to give and receive to friends and staff. In 2019, the SGA took over this project.

Memphis in May Cultural Tour – March

This year Memphis is celebrating the country of Ghana!

May Day

Our annual Field Day events, known as May Day, combines games like sack races, musical chairs and fill the bucket with chalk drawing contests and dance parties. No May Day is complete without the coveted Spirit Award and grade level Tug-of-Wars in the gym.

Science Works

Lead by parent volunteers and organized by the PTA, Scienceworks is a program designed to lead K-5 classes in scheduled projects and activities. For 10 years, the Scienceworks program at BSE has generated curiosity, expanded interests, and promoted a greater understanding of the sciences and related fields. Students rotate through 3-5 activities throughout the year and hear from guest speakers/parents who present on topics related to the science curriculum.
